Who doesn't love a discount? As soon as I saw that I could get a burger, fries and lemonade for a modest ten pounds from by Chloe (scroll down to find out where I found the deal) I knew I had to drive down to Greenwich and claim my meal.
Let's start with the burger. Sorry to say this and I hope I don't sound ridiculous (did you catch it?) but I was less than thrilled with it. Yes, the bun was mighty soft and fluffy, but the bread shouldn't be the most enjoyable part of a burger. The patty, which consisted of tempeh, lentils, chia seeds and walnuts, took on a taste that I could not pinpoint. For there to be so many components, I would have expected a bit more complexity and depth. The patty was by no means bland, but it was forgettable and left a funny aftertaste in my mouth. I genuinely feel that I would have much preferred my first choice but my L is cancelled out by the kind waitress' throwing in of the free cookie.
I haven't eaten anything from Burger King for years but the fries from by Chloe tasted similar to the fries I remember eating from there. They had that same bubbly exterior, but the taste was less salty and they were definitely less oily. Bravo, by Chloe - these were great. The beet ketchup I was also not a fan of. I love beetroot but this wasn't my thing.
It's been a while since I've eaten a vegan cookie that has made sense. The chocolate chips were more like modest, rich chunks and the pecans I appreciated because they were chopped up and not whole. The cookie, removed from the nut and choc additions, was so buttery! Almost in a shortbread kind of way. It was sugary in the way one would expect a cookie to be but also not disgustingly sweet. I was tempted to buy another but my inner voice won.
Would I visit by Chloe again? I wouldn't rule it out, however I was not blown away by my meal. The service, however, was outstanding and the wait time was relatively short.
